Jean Hugard was one of the most influential magicians of the twentieth century.
He became a professional magician in his native Australia before coming to the United States where he performed in many venues, including his own theatre on Coney Island.
Hugard was the author, ghost writer or editor of nearly fifty books and pamphlets on magic and was the founding editor of Hugards Magic Monthly. Some of these works remain - decades after their initial publication - among the most influential in the literature of sleight-of-hand.
This monograph covers Hugard's long career from stage to page, and includes a colored frontispiece, illustrations, a checklist of his publications, and an index. Available in limited quantities.
